 REJUVENATION/AGE MEDICINE – UTILIZING BIOIDENTICAL HORMONES/VITAMINS/DIET

Our goal is to create a functional medical strategy for our patients. We utilize bioidentical hormones and vitamins. These are the natural hormones that a person is born with. BHRT (bioidentical hormone replacement therapy) involves supplementing your natural hormones, which are lost as a person ages. BHRT improving the quality of a person’s life and promoting longevity.

FUNCTIONAL MEDICINE THAT FIGHTS THE EFFECTS OF AGING

Fatigue, weight gain, and loss of physical ability as “normal” signs of aging. 90% of illness in adults is due to the aging process. Our approach is to detect age-related diseases early and prevent the onset. The preventative healthcare industry focuses on screening and or testing for diseases. We create an optimal wellness plan by utilizing the latest preventative treatments available today.

THE ROLES OF THYROID HORMONE, DHEA, VITAMIN D, AND OTHER HORMONES FOR LONGEVITY

THYROID HORMONE:  The thyroid hormone is critical for overall body health and function. This metabolic hormone regulates everything from energy production to body temperature. As a person ages, the thyroid gland produces less of this hormone which can result in weight gain, hair loss, fatigue, and intolerance to cold temperatures. In men and women, less thyroid hormone can lead to a diminished sex drive and also promote susceptibility to disease.

 Benefits of Thyroid Hormone Replacement:

 • Improved cognitive function

 • Cardiovascular disease prevention

 • Lower cholesterol

 • Fat reduction and weight loss

 • Increased energy and metabolism

• Healthier skin, hair, and nails

DHEA (DEHYDROEPIANDROSTERONE):  Sometimes called androstenolone. DHEA is a naturally occurring steroid hormone secreted by the adrenal glands, the gonads, and the brain. It assists in maintaining a healthy metabolism as well as in the proper production of estrogen and androgen. DHEA levels in the body are highest in the morning and when proper exercise and nutrition are maintained.

DHEA is naturally produced in the body from a process involving cholesterol. Supplements are produced from soy or yams, but increasing soy or yam intake alone will not raise DHEA levels. DHEA production peaks in a person’s 20s and then gradually declines. Supplementation can help restore adrenal function, nervous and immune system function, increase energy, improve cognitive function and mood, and help build muscle.

VITAMIN D — A PRO-HORMONE:  Vitamin D is a hormone that is naturally produced in the body when the skin comes in contact with sunlight. This hormone is necessary for the absorption of many nutrients and vitamins such as calcium and phosphorus. Supplements are often needed to combat vitamin D deficiency.

Benefits of Vitamin D:

 • Healthy teeth and bones

 • Immune and nervous system support

 • Promotes normal insulin levels

 • Supports heart and lung function

 • Protects against cancer, diabetes, and MS

OTHER HORMONES THAT DECLINE WITH AGE

TESTOSTERONE: Andropause is the clinical term for the sudden decline in testosterone that occurs at middle-age for men. The results are weight gain, hypertension, diminished libido, hair loss, fatigue, sexual dysfunction, short temper, and muscle loss. By age 60, a man produces about 20% of the testosterone as in youth. Gradual decline begins at age 30.

Testosterone also plays a role in cognitive function and can affect memory and learning. Decrease in testosterone is usually accompanied by an increase in estrogen which promotes more body fat and increases the risk for diabetes.

HGH (HUMAN GROWTH HORMONE): This peptide hormone helps cells grow and regenerate. It is produced in the pituitary gland. At middle age, as women experience menopause and men experience andropause due to inadequate HGH in the blood, the production of this growth hormone also declines. HGH is vital to maintaining bone density and muscle mass which is why men experience muscle atrophy and women often experience osteoporosis later in life.

COMBATING THE PRIMARY EFFECTS OF AGING,

YOU’RE TOO YOUNG TO BE OLD

Improving Cardiac Health

The primary elements of our cardiac health program are prevention, and risk factor treatment. Diagnosing and identification of Coronary Heart Disease and Vascular Disease- strokes and heart attacks are vital to a healthy life.

Muscular Strength to Fight Aging

Consistent exercise that targets key muscle groups results in increased energy, physical strength, and overall improved health. Increased muscle strength leads to fewer injuries and a healthier lifestyle. Prevent the onset of many age-related diseases.

Preventing Changes in Mood

As hormone levels change, both men and women experience mood alterations. We offer treatment options that are non-invasive including bioidentical hormone therapy. During andropause (menopause for men), there is a sudden decline in hormone production. Hormone replacement as well as vitamin/herbal supplements therapies can help restore and improve physical and emotional health. Brain chemistry is affected by many different hormones, and the proper balance can be the difference between aging in good health versus declining health and  a mid-life crisis.

Preventing Loss of Muscle Mass

Especially for men, when hormone levels decrease later in life, muscle loss is a major concern. The body begins to make less testosterone after age 30, and by age 60 the decline is drastic. Muscles atrophy, fat builds, and strength decreases. BHRT, a natural form of hormone therapy, along with the proper nutrition, vitamins, herbal supplements, and exercise can help the body continue to maintain muscle mass later in life.

Preventing Weight Gain/ Fatigue/ Understanding SAD "Standard American Diet"

After “men-opause”, men have less testosterone. They begin to build less muscle and gain more fat especially in the abdominal area. This causes fatigue which results in less exercise and negative quality of life. High stress is connected with weight gain and an increase in cortisol. Increased cortisol levels reduce testosterone and further the cycle of weight gain and fatigue. Bioidentical hormone therapy, vitamins, herbal supplements can help balance cortisol, testosterone, estrogen, and other hormone levels resulting in less abdominal fat and more energy.

Aging and Cognitive Health

People consider concentration problems and cloudy thinking as a natural part of aging. Memory loss and other cognitive problems reduce the quality of life. Don’t accept memory problems as a normal part of aging. The right natural hormone supplements, vitamins, herbal supplements and nutrition can. Improve working memory, short term memory and quality of life.

Aging and Sexual Health

Particularly for men, aging often means decreased desire and enjoyment of sex. These effects can be reversed. Balancing hormone levels such as testosterone, estrogen, DHEA, Cortisol, Thyroid and others can improve sexual health including erectile performance and quality of orgasm.  The brain, vascular system, and hormones need to work together for men and women to enjoy good sexual health. Thyroid hormone levels affect estrogen and testosterone levels. In turn, testosterone/estrogen levels affect libido. Erectile dysfunction, the inability to attain or sustain an erection, and decrease sexual performance and enjoyment is often due to hormone deficiencies. Using natural hormone therapy, vitamin supplement, herbal medication, and proper nutrition, sexual dysfunction can be resolved. Enjoy Sex Again!

Adrenal Fatigue and Adrenal "Burnout"

Abnormal cortisol levels can be caused by stress, alcohol, Insomnia, and cause adrenal fatigue. Cortisol depletes the body’s reserves of necessary nutrients and affects immune function. The body may even use some of the building blocks of testosterone to produce cortisol, resulting in less of this vital hormone. Without testosterone, adrenal fatigue or burnout can occur. The results are anxiety, memory problems, fatigue and aches, and reduced self-motivation. High Cortisol leads to “Burn-out” feeling because the body is unbalanced and exhausted of its metabolic fuel.  Vitamins, herbal supplements, diet can "reverse adrenal burnout".
